A Client's Blog on her Viking River Cruise Last Summer

3/22/2023

Last summer, I had the incredible opportunity to take a Viking River Cruise through Europe. It was a trip I had been dreaming of for years, and it exceeded all of my expectations. From the breathtaking scenery to the world-class cuisine and fascinating cultural experiences, it was truly a trip of a lifetime.
Our journey began in Budapest, Hungary, where we boarded the Viking Longship Skadi. The ship was stunning, with sleek, modern design and comfortable amenities. Our stateroom was spacious and well-appointed, with a balcony that offered stunning views of the Danube River.
Our first stop was in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. This charming city is filled with historic architecture and cobblestone streets, and we spent the day exploring its many sights, including the impressive Bratislava Castle and the iconic St. Michael's Gate. We also had the opportunity to sample some of the local cuisine, including delicious Slovakian dumplings and creamy mushroom soup.
Next, we sailed to Vienna, Austria, one of the most beautiful and culturally rich cities in Europe. We spent several days here, exploring its many museums, palaces, and famous landmarks. One of the highlights was our visit to the stunning Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the Habsburg monarchs. We also enjoyed a performance of classical music in one of Vienna's famous concert halls and sampled some of the city's famous pastries, such as Sachertorte and Apfelstrudel.
Our journey continued through the picturesque Wachau Valley, where we were treated to stunning views of vineyards and quaint villages. We stopped in the charming town of Dürnstein, where we hiked up to the castle ruins and enjoyed a wine tasting at a local vineyard. We also visited the Benedictine abbey of Melk, one of the most famous and impressive monasteries in Austria.
Our final stop was in the stunning city of Prague, Czech Republic. This enchanting city is filled with historic landmarks, such as the iconic Charles Bridge and the Prague Castle. We also enjoyed exploring the city's many cafes and restaurants, sampling some of the famous Czech beers and hearty cuisine.
Throughout our journey, we were treated to world-class service and exceptional dining experiences onboard the Viking Longship Skadi. The ship's restaurant served up a delicious array of local and international dishes, and we enjoyed many memorable meals with our fellow passengers.
Overall, my Viking River Cruise through Europe was an unforgettable experience that I will treasure for years to come. From the breathtaking scenery to the fascinating cultural experiences and exceptional cuisine, it was truly a trip of a lifetime. I would highly recommend this type of travel to anyone looking to explore Europe in style and comfort.
